Absolutes

In these days that we live in, people are living without absolutes and boundaries - moral standards are dropping, principles are being shaken and people are compromising their standards.

As believers, we need to have certain absolutes in our lives that we hold on to and never compromise. When there is no absolutes, our inner life is hollow and we can be easily knocked down.

Daniel is a person in the Bible that lived a life of absolutes and from whom we can learn how to live our life.

The Life Of Daniel
1. Purity of heart
Daniel 1:8
8  But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

2. Humility
Daniel 2:30
30  "But as for me, this secret has not been revealed to me because I have more wisdom than anyone living, but for our sakes who make known the interpretation to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your heart.

3. Trust in God
Daniel 9:2
2  in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the LORD through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

4. Faith

What are God's absolutes?
Men are created in the image of God. Because we are made in the image of God, our lives reflect God – worship.
Our lives therefore, are holy and SACRED. When we know our lives are sacred, then we will have the fear of God.
The moment we take away the sacredness, corruption comes in.
Our ethnicity is holy before God -  racism is a sin to God. If it is sacred, God is involved. Violation is destruction.

1. One God – don’t compromise

2. No idols – idolatry is an insult to God

3. Don’t take the name of God in vain – the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is holy. Don’t abuse His name.

4. Keep the Sabbath holy

5. Honor your father and mother

6. Thou shalt not murder – sanctity of life

7. Thou shalt not commit adultery – moral purity

8. Thou shalt not steal – stealing has to do with the heart

9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor – thou shalt not lie

10. Thou shalt not covet – comes through jealousy and envy. Find contentment in God.

All the ten commandments have to do with the heart.

Truth is eternal, truth is timeless. When there is no truth, there is no absolutes.
