The Guarantee Of Our Salvation
Our faith is secure in God’s lasting work of Redemption.
Our salvation is guaranteed through:
1. The blood of Jesus
1 Peter 1:18-19 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Hebrews 9:12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
2. The everlasting covenant
Hebrews 13:20-21 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
3. Christ’s continuing work as our High Priest
Hebrews 7:21, 25 (for they have become priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him who said to Him: "The LORD has sworn And will not relent, "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek"), Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
4. The earnest of redemption – the indwelling Holy Spirit
Ephesians 1:13-14 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
5. The unchanging decree or word of the Lord
1 Peter 1:23,25 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, But the word of the LORD endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
6. Our position of being hid in Christ
Col 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
1 Cor 6:17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
7. God’s enduring love freely shown to us in Christ
Rom 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
